Singing Inspector

Jesse's diary from Iris Vaughan Last week, this horrible man came to my class and his name was Raymond. He was the singing inspector, he was very intimidating, he wore huge knickerbockers and thick stockings like he was a hunting man. He had a round red head with golden curly hair and eyes like blue gooseberries. He was very rude to everyone and he calls us hurtful words. He called everybody to the big room except the little ones, but I still had to go because I am 11 years old, the big boys were also there who only do exams and no singing. We had to do the doh ray me fah and tata tete vocal warm-ups. We were called up to sing in groups of two, first Benny and Charles were called up first. They didn't know one single song, but it's almost like their memories went blank because they were so terrified. He was very angry and shouted at the boys "what can you sing, sing anything". Our visit to Sanai Academy

Last week we visited Sinai Academy in Bloubergrant The Quails went to a synagogue. When we walked in, the boys had to sit on the one side and the girls had to sit on the other side. There were trees in between the girls and the boys because the Jews say that they don’t want the boys to get distracted well they are praying. The boys had to wear a kippah when they were walking into the synagogue. There was a Rabbi who showed us what a prayer shawl is and he put it on and all of us didn’t know what is was. We had Shabbat with the Jewish children. Before we ate, the children prayed in Hebrew. The children gave us some facts about what they do at night with candles. We ate some traditional  challah bread and instead of  wine we had grape juice because we are kids. Right before we prayed they sang a song to us. I really enjoyed the morning at Sinai Academy. I respect their religion and I think that their celebrations are really special.

Last week we went on camp. We went to Giraffe House on our way. We came on a bus. We got off the bus and went to eat our snack, and we went to go see the animals, there were snakes, giraffe, llama, zebra and we got ice-cream and went to the reptile show and some of my classmates held a python and my teacher had to close her eyes and the guy put a fake tarantula in her hands! and she got such a fright. In the end we went to go feed the goats and then we got on the bus and headed to camp.
